A Travellerspoint blog

Compression socks are on. Let's get down to business.

Written in the airport terminal...Where else would I be?

I've definitely got an auto-pilot mode established for travel races - it's pretty sweet to (for the most part) not get overwhelmed by the packing, preparation and unforeseen glitches that are just part of the party. In this 'mode' energy conservation is key, especially mentally. This thought made me realize today that mentally, I am just in such a better place than this time last year. There is more focus, more direction, more love and more support than I think I've ever been surrounded by. I am grateful every day.

I am sitting in the airport in Boston, with my Mom, my Dad AND my Nonnie heading to race at World Championships. In London. The hype and excitement of a race this big is pretty damn cool all by itself...but being able to share it all with my family. Yeah. Wicked! And I'm feeling good. Real good. EK has been getting me ready for sure...it feels like this whole season is about to come together. HARD. Just a gut feeling.

So. 2012. I raced in New Zealand, finishing 16th in my division and 64th woman. It was one of my better races in 2012. As I play the result analysis game at the terminal, I've discovered that I've been racing consistently 6-10 minutes faster this year than my average race last year. (Evil laugh goes here) So, as I'm not quite ready to disclose my personal goals for this race out in social media world. They are big.
